Troubleshooting YouTube Distribution Failures

Modified on Sat, 7 Feb at 1:31 AM

At RSS.com, we convert several thousand podcast episodes to video every month using our audio-to-video conversion tool, PodViz. While publishing to YouTube is quick and smooth in 99.9% of cases, an episode may occasionally fail to deliver.

A common cause for this is an irregularity in the audio file’s original encoding, which can disrupt the upload handshake even though PodViz handles the conversion for you.

Before reaching out to technical support, the most effective first step is to re-encode your audio file to ensure a clean data stream. This can be done easily with standard, off-the-shelf tools by making a minor adjustment, such as stripping half a second from the end of the file or saving it with a different bitrate.

Simply open your audio file, make a minor adjustment, and upload the file again.

This process refreshes the file's metadata and headers, which typically resolves delivery conflicts and allows you to successfully re-upload the episode to trigger the YouTube distribution.
