Updating Directory Links for Imported Podcasts

Modified on Thu, 13 Nov at 8:57 AM

When you import a podcast into RSS.com from another hosting provider, your show is (most likely) already distributed across listening platforms (like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music).

Because those directories already know your show, RSS.com doesn’t automatically resubmit or redistribute it again, doing so would create duplicate listings on podcast directories.

For this reason, the distribution flow for imported shows differs slightly from brand-new ones. New shows need to be distributed for the first time, while imported shows only need to have their existing directory listings linked.

What’s Different in the Distribution Section

If your show was imported, the Distribution tab in your dashboard looks slightly different:

  • You won’t see a “Submit” button for platforms like Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
  • Instead, you’ll find a set of input fields where you can enter your show’s existing directory URLs manually.

Example URLs you want to import:

Why You Should Add These Links

Adding your existing directory URLs helps in two important ways:

  1. It makes your public podcast page on RSS.com show the familiar “Listen on…” buttons.
  2. It confirms your distribution setup is complete and consistent across all platforms.

Without these links, your public page won’t display those directory buttons, even though your show remains live on the directories themselves.

However, even if you choose not to add your directory links, rest assured, your redirect has already taken effect, and your podcast continues to be distributed normally to all listening platforms. Adding the links is simply recommended because it improves your public RSS.com page and keeps your distribution records consistent.

How to Update Your Links

  1. Go to your RSS.com Dashboard.
  2. Click Distribution in the top menu.
  3. In each platform section, paste your existing podcast URL from that directory.
  4. Click Save after updating all links.

You can find these URLs by opening your podcast on each listening platform and copying the link from your browser or share button. More detailed information can be found here for each platform.

If you're having trouble locating your existing directory links, you can also search your podcast on Podnews.net. Simply type your show’s name, and Podnews will display all major directory listings in one place.

Common Questions

Q. Can I resubmit my show anyway?
A. No, resubmitting would create duplicates. You only need to link your existing pages.

Q. What if I don’t remember my links?
A. Try searching your show name on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Amazon Music. Once you find your listing, copy the page URL.

Tip: After adding your URLs, visit your public RSS.com page to verify that all “Listen on…” buttons are visible.
