How is RAS (Rolling Average Subscribers) calculated?

Modified on Sun, 19 May at 11:49 PM

While RSS.com provides industry-leading analytics to podcasters, it is currently not possible to accurately determine the number of followers or subscribers a show has. This is because most podcast players, apps, and directories either do not track followers/subscribers or do not report those numbers.

However, you can estimate the number of followers/subscribers for your show with RSS.com's unique metric called "RAS" (Rolling Average Subscribers). RAS counts the number of individual listener devices downloading or streaming your show, averaged over the first 24 hours of unique downloads for your last three episodes.

For example, if your show is released every Friday at 6:00 am and consistently receives around 100 downloads every Friday morning, you can estimate that you have roughly 100 followers/subscribers. This number may include listeners who accessed the content within the first 24 hours through other means, such as social media, and may not be actual followers/subscribers of your show.
