How do I validate my podcast RSS feed?

Modified on Sat, 22 Aug at 4:12 AM

A validator reads your feed the way a podcast directory does and tells you exactly what it objects to. Run one before you submit anywhere, and again whenever a directory rejects you.

Free validators

  • Podbase checks that your XML is well formed and that the feed is Apple Podcasts compatible, including cover art, category and summary.
  • Cast Feed Validator validates the feed, checks the artwork and the media files, and shows you the feed rendered.

Paste in your feed URL. Open My Podcast and click RSS Feed to copy it.

Warnings are common and mostly harmless. An error is what stops a directory accepting you, so fix those first. Most come down to missing cover art, no published episodes, or a feed URL that is not the one we generate.

Important: if a validator passes your feed and a directory still rejects it, send us the feed URL and the directory's exact error message and we will look at it.
