How to set up a perfect podcast URL

Modified on Wed, 27 Dec 2023 at 11:09 AM

Your RSS podcast feed URL is the permanent address for your podcast. It is used by internet browsers and bots to find and read all of your podcast information. Like any address, it must follow certain format guidelines. You will be able to choose the podcast title (known as the "slug") in your RSS Podcast feed URL. Follow the guidelines below to make sure your feed is formatted properly:

Accepted: A valid RSS feed URL can only include lower case alphanumeric characters (letters a-z, numbers 0-9, and hyphens).

Not allowed: Special characters are not allowed in the RSS feed URL (symbols, spaces, and capital letters) except for hyphens. You can use hyphens in your slug.

Podcast feed slugs are usually some variation of the Podcast name. For example; If your podcast name is "My Happy Podcast," you can choose to use your podcast name minus the spaces; "myhappypodcast." The slug appears at the end of your RSS feed URL like this: https://rss.com/podcasts/myhappypodcast/

If the slug you choose is available, you will see the message "This will be your permanent address. Once confirmed, it cannot be changed." Click the "Next" button to continue with the creation of your podcast.

Troubleshooting:

If you put in the full URL of your feed URL, it will send an error. Please use only the slug to create your podcast.

If you see the message "This address has already been taken!" you will need to choose a new name for your slug.

After you add a valid feed URL slug, the "Next" button will light up and you will be able continue to the next step.

Congratulations! You have just created your podcast RSS feed URL.
