How to set up a perfect podcast URL

Modified on Thu, 10 Oct at 10:44 AM

Your RSS podcast feed URL is the permanent web address for your podcast. It’s how browsers and podcast platforms find and display all your podcast information.

The feed URL is automatically generated as soon as you enter your podcast title, so you typically won’t need to change it.

However, if you want to customize it, you can easily edit it.

How to Format Your Podcast Feed URL

Your feed URL includes a customizable part known as the “slug,” which you can edit. To ensure it works properly, follow these simple guidelines:

Allowed: The slug can include only lowercase letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), and hyphens (-).

Not allowed: No special characters (like symbols, spaces, or capital letters) are permitted, except for hyphens.

Best Practices for Your Podcast Slug

While you can make the slug anything you want, it’s a good idea to base it on your podcast’s name. For example, if your podcast is called “My Third Podcast,” you might use “my-last-podcast” as your slug (just remove the spaces).

The slug appears at the end of your RSS feed URL and public website like this: https://rss.com/podcasts/my-last-podcast

If the slug you choose is available, you will see the message "This will be your permanent address. Once confirmed, it cannot be changed." Now click the "Next" button to continue with the creation of your podcast.

After you add a valid feed URL slug, the "Next" button will light up and you will be able continue to the next step.

Congratulations! You have just created your podcast RSS feed URL and you’re now ready to upload your first episode.

Troubleshooting

If you put invalid characters or a full URL, it will return an error. Please use only the slug to create your podcast.

If you see the message "This address has already been taken!" you will need to choose a new name for your slug.
