The Free plan

Modified on Mon, 3 Aug at 4:01 AM

Free is our no-cost hosting plan, built for local and niche shows. There is no trial and no expiry date. You publish unlimited episodes and reach every major podcast app, at $0.

What you get

  • Unlimited episodes and unlimited audio, with no storage cap
  • Automatic distribution to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music and the other major apps
  • Your own podcast website and an embeddable player
  • Episode scheduling, chapters, and transcripts you add yourself
  • IAB-certified analytics
  • Listener donations and Value for Value, so your audience can support you directly
  • Podroll, Power-Ups and the location tag from Podcasting 2.0
  • Support from a real person

Your episodes are never deleted, we do not insert our own ads into your show, and the audio quality is the same as on our paid plans.

The two limits

  • One podcast per account.
  • 30 days of analytics history. Your full history keeps being recorded. You can view the most recent 30 days while you are on Free, and moving to a paid plan opens the whole history back up.

Using a third-party prefix such as OP3 is optional, and it does not change what you can see inside RSS.com.

Monetization, multiple podcasts and team access sit on the paid plans. Compare the plans to see what each one adds.

Why we ask for a card

Free needs a card on file so we can verify the account, which is what keeps spam signups and platform abuse off the platform. You are never charged for the Free plan.

Who it is for

Local news, community and cultural shows, hobby and special-interest podcasts, schools, nonprofits, and anyone testing an idea before scaling up.

You decide whether your show is local or niche. There is no approval step and no eligibility review. The short description you give us helps us categorize your show for discovery, nothing more.

Why it is free

Local and niche voices are underrepresented in podcasting, and cost is a large part of the reason. We would rather put people before profits and take that barrier away. Unlike most free tiers, we do not cap your upload hours, delete your back catalogue, or inject our own ads.

How to switch to Free

  1. Sign up and publish your first episode.
  2. When you publish a second episode, or use a feature that needs a plan, you land on the pricing page. Select Free.
  3. Tell us where your show's focus is, for example Los Angeles, CA. Your own location and a short summary of who you serve are optional.
  4. Add a card so we can verify the account.

Importing a back catalogue

You can bring an existing show over on the Free plan. There is no episode limit and no import fee. Very large libraries take longer to process, and there are no storage caps or surprise charges. See how to import your podcast.

If you ever leave

We support standard 301 feed redirects, so you keep control of your feed and can move to another host whenever you want.
